Academy of the Holy Name (Tampa Bay, FL) 20th class reunion "Thanks a lot...what a great success!" Star Valley High School, Afton, Wyoming (1983 25th class reunion 8/2/08) I have created three interactive PowerPoint activities, two PowerPoint slide shows, a music trivia activity (top 40 songs of your graduation year), and a word scramble (the top 30 TV shows of your graduation year). Reunion Elimination The most popular item - called "Reunion Elimination" - is a fun, 30-40 minute interactive PowerPoint with 18 categories. This activity can be used as an icebreaker (or can be used at any time during the reunion) involving everyone at the reunion including guests. It is a group activity that works well with any size reunion large or small. The PowerPoint can easily be shortened by eliminating some of the categories. (It can be used without a computer if one is not available.) Note: Only two questions (from 18) are available for previewing. The next four items are PowerPoints that need a computer and projection device. (Hopefully, someone has the needed equipment or you can usually get them from your school, library, banquet facility, or someone's work.) Slideshow This very popular PowerPoint is an approximately ten minute, 60-70 item slide show specific to the year you graduated. Topics covered on the slide show are: World Events, National News, Sports Trivia, Top Grossing Movies, Popular TV Shows, Popular Songs, and Prices. (If someone has the equipment and knowledge, pictures from your class can be scanned in and added to this slide show.) This can be used as a whole group (any size) presentation or as a stand-alone where it is set to loop continuously. (Note: Only one slide for each category is shown.) (Note: All other years' formats are similar to the 1963 year preview.) Name that Picture This fun, entertaining (interactive) PowerPoint is an approximately 10-20 minute, (depending on which version you use) 30 item slide show for the decade you graduated. A picture of a person or object is shown and you see if you can recall who or what it is. (If someone has the equipment and knowledge, pictures from your class can be scanned in and added to this slide show.) Version 1 can be used as a whole group (any size) presentation or as a stand-alone where it is set to loop continuously. Version 2 can be used as a whole group (any size) presentation (using paper and pencil). (Note: Only 4 slides out of 30 are shown.) (Note: All other years' formats are similar to the 50's decade preview.) Jeopardy The next interactive PowerPoint is based on the game of Jeopardy. Its questions are specific to the year you graduated and uses many of the same slides as the slideshow above. You can play it competitively - keeping track of points - individually, or as a team; or just use the trivia questions to reminisce about the past and what life was like when you graduated. You would not do both the slide show above and the Jeopardy game but one or the other. (Note: Only the first $100 question in each category is available for viewing.) (Note: All other years' categories are similar to the 1983 year preview.) Top Movies and TV Shows The fourth PowerPoint is a fun slide show of the top ten TV shows and top movies from the year you graduated. Some of the same slides are used in the slideshow above. This can be used as a whole group (any size) presentation or as a stand-alone where it is set to loop continuously. You would not do both the slide show above and this one as group presentations but one as a group and the other as a stand-alone or if you have a two-day reunion one on the first day and the other the second day. (Note: Only the #9 & #10 are supplied on the preview.) (Note: All other years' formats are similar to the 1988 year preview.) Match the Song Title to the Artist The next two items are paper and pencil activities. One involves matching the top 40 songs (of your graduation year) with the artists who sang them. This can be done alone, with a partner, or in groups and can be used as an icebreaker activity. (Note: The artist choices and correct answers are not supplied on the preview.) (Note: All other years' formats are similar to the 1973 year preview.) TV Word Scramble The last activity is a word scramble where you unscramble the names of the top 30 TV shows (of your graduation year). This is usually an individual activity done during someone’s free time. (Note: The answers are not supplied on the preview.) (Note: All other years' formats are similar to the 1991 year preview.) Other ways that these two items can be used are as follows. They can be mailed out with the reunion invitations and the answers supplied at the reunion. If you do a gift bag they can be included in it along with the answers. Or if you have a two-day reunion one or both of these can be given the first day and then give the answers the next day. You can have people grade their own papers and the person who got the most right wins a prize (the centerpiece, a free drink, etc.). http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html *Include the YEAR of GRADUATION *If saving on shipping cost then include your e-mail address (No e-mail address will ever be sold nor given out!)
